The most common reason why your Ford Mustang's key FOB may not be working is likely due to a dead battery. These FOBs use a small 3.3 volt lithium watch battery, usually CR2032s, and it's easy to replace it and get back on the road. Sometimes, a malfunctioning button or a cracked PCB inside the FOB's casing could also be the issue. If your Mustang displays the "Key Not Recognized" message, it can be more challenging to troubleshoot. Some drivers have found that keeping it near their cellphone causes problems, while others attribute it to the heavy metal keys on their keychain. There's a trick you can try: there's a small key slot underneath the cup holder. Remove the tab at the bottom rear cup holder, take out the liner, and insert the FOB into the now visible slot.

If your remote access device is not functioning, the most common issue is a depleted battery. If it remains unresponsive even after changing the battery, it may be due to a jammed button or a faulty internal connection.
