I recently purchased a secondhand 2010 Escape. Unfortunately, the center dash radio didn't have any lights or functions, but the steering wheel controls were functional and had preset radio stations. It turned out that someone had swapped the radio box with a junkyard unit labeled "good," but they forgot to plug in the faceplate, which has its own power cord. Once I connected the faceplate, everything worked fine.

If the radio is on and the display is working properly to show the station, but the buttons on the center dash don't respond while the steering wheel controls for the radio work, try checking the face plate. How can I reach the individual power connector that is separate from the radio unit itself? This connector is located on the passenger side, directly behind the faceplate. How do I remove the faceplate to access it?
