The popular Honda CR-V equipped with the 1.6L diesel engine is known to experience injector problems. An official recall was issued due to faulty injectors, which can result in the mixing of fuel and oil, potentially damaging the engine and causing reduced performance. Apart from these issues, typical complaints associated with diesel engines include louder operation compared to gas engines and vulnerability of the glow plugs to breakage during replacement. Nonetheless, after addressing the recall concerns, the engine performs well and should have no trouble lasting well beyond 100,000 miles.

The Honda CR-V 1.6 Diesel is among the cars impacted by a recall for defective injectors, which can lead to fuel and oil mixing in the engine, resulting in a decline in vehicle functionality.

I have a CRV with a 1.6-liter engine producing 160 horsepower and 303,000 kilometers on it. I've had a few issues with it - I had to replace two wheel bearings, fix a P049b fault caused by a small broken sieve in the EGR gas line, and address a low turbo pressure issue stemming from a seized turbo valve actuation shaft, which required some graphite grease to resolve. I religiously change the oil and oil filter every 10,000 kilometers, the air filter every 20,000 kilometers, and the diesel filter (difficult to access, so I have the Honda dealer handle it) every 40,000 kilometers. Additionally, I change the rear differential oil annually and check the cooling system and brakes every 60,000 kilometers. The glow plugs finally failed at 270,000 kilometers.

My 2017 Honda CRV is currently in the garage, and they're unable to diagnose the issue, suggesting it needs a new engine despite having only 45,000 miles. This seems suspicious. Can anyone offer assistance? Reach out to me at Paulbingham0086@icloud.com.
