The 2011 Ford Fusion comes with a spring-loaded fuel door instead of a gas cap. This design feature allows for the filler neck opening to automatically open when pushed by the gas pump, and then close on its own. If the opening gets blocked by debris or the protective door isn't closed properly, a warning light reading "check fuel fill inlet" will appear in your vehicle. To address this issue, pull over safely, open the fuel door, and remove any obstructions from the inlet. Please note that the warning light will remain on until the car completes a driving sequence, typically requiring the vehicle to be turned off for at least 4 hours and then driven at highway speeds.
