The P26AB code found in the 2014 Ram 1500 points to a problem with the engine coolant bypass valve, specifically that it is stuck. Sometimes updating the PCM can fix the issue, but more often than not, you will need to replace the valve. A new one can be bought for around $70 to $90. To do this, locate the valve on the frame rail under the hood on the passenger side. It is suggested that you begin by removing the air filter box assembly for better access. To remove the valve, you will need an 8mm socket to unscrew the bolts. Disconnect the three hoses and the red electrical connector. It's a good idea to clamp the hoses before disconnecting to avoid spilling coolant. You will then require a 13mm ratchet wrench to take out the valve assembly and harness.

I changed out the three-way coolant valve and reset the error code. I drove the vehicle for a bit, but the check engine light reappeared with the same p26ab code. Any idea what might be causing this?
