On the Mazda3 (and all other Mazda cars), if the AT light comes on, it means "automatic transaxle." While it could be for minor issues, it might also indicate a significant problem. If you see it turn on, it's best to pull over when safe and start investigating the problem. The most common reason for the light is a low level of automatic transmission fluid in your Mazda3, so that's the first thing you should check. If that's not the issue, I suggest using an OBD-II scan tool to check for fault codes, as the light usually comes with at least one code. Hopefully, it's a simple fix and not too concerning!

The "AT" indicator in a Mazda3 is linked to the car's automatic transmission system. While it could illuminate due to low transmission fluid, it might also signal a significant problem requiring urgent action.

If the AT light is illuminated, it is probably indicating an issue with the TCM, also known as the transmission control module, on a Mazda 3.
