In the BMW X5, the Auto H feature, short for Auto Hold, automatically sets and releases the brake to prevent the car from rolling back, which is especially handy in stop-and-go traffic or on inclines. To engage this feature, simply press the button on the center console. An indicator light will illuminate on the button and Auto H will be displayed on the instrument panel. Press the button again to deactivate it. If the car is in automatic hold, pressing the brake pedal will turn off the feature. Remember to turn off the Auto Hold system when using a car wash, as the parking brake will engage when the car is stationary. The system will reactivate if the engine is off, the driver's seatbelt is not fastened with a door open, or if the parking brake is engaged for an extended period while driving.
The auto h button in the BMW X5 activates the auto hold function, which keeps the parking brake engaged after you release the brake pedal until you press the accelerator.
