If the OBD-II fault code P2714 appears on your Toyota Tundra (or any other vehicle with an automatic transmission that has OBD-II capability), it indicates that there is an issue with the transmission control solenoid "D" in the powertrain control module (PCM). Among the several transmission control solenoids, this code specifically identifies the fourth one. Promptly replacing the solenoid should not pose a major problem initially, but delaying the fix could lead to escalating issues. Initially, you may notice decreased fuel efficiency, and eventually, you may experience symptoms resembling a misfire. Additionally, your check engine light will come on, and there is a risk of your transmission overheating. The latter is significant as an overheated transmission is susceptible to self-damage, and transmission replacements are costly. Therefore, it is advisable to replace the solenoid as soon as possible.
