The P0641 code on the Chevrolet Impala means that there is an issue with the Sensor Reference Voltage "A" Circuit being open. Basically, the powertrain control module (PCM) supplies a reference voltage to sensors on the vehicle, similar to how a computer provides power to its ports. The sensors then send back signals verifying this voltage, which the PCM reads. In this case, the PCM has detected a voltage outside the 5-volt circuit specification, triggered by the number one sensor. Symptoms may only include the check engine light coming on or some gauge discrepancies; there won't be any dramatic effects like the car lurching or going into limp mode as with other trouble codes. Common causes include a faulty sensor, issues with wiring (such as a broken or frayed wire), or occasionally a problem with the PCM itself.

The p0641 code on your Chevy Impala indicates that the car's computer has identified a situation where one of the sensors in your vehicle has an incomplete or "open" connection. This issue could potentially indicate problems with the transmission or gears. It's crucial to have your vehicle checked out in-depth to identify and address the underlying problem.
