The P2626 code on your MINI Cooper is a general powertrain code related to issues with the computer circuit output. This code shows up when the engine control module (ECM) gets a voltage signal from oxygen sensor number 1's current trim circuit for bank 1 that doesn't fall within the acceptable range. It might also be because an oxygen sensor reading is lower than what's allowed. If the voltage signal's variation exceeds 10%, whether too high or too low, the ECM saves a P2626 code. The ECM relies on signals from the oxygen sensor to check if the air-fuel mixture is too rich or too lean, adjusting the fuel injection duration accordingly. If a sensor is damaged, it can lead to an air-fuel mixture that doesn't match the engine's needs.
