Chevy Malibu owners are experiencing an issue where an error message saying "Shift to Park" appears on the driver information center after the car has been put into park and turned off. This can prevent drivers from turning off their interior lights and lead to battery drainage. The problem is mostly seen in 2016-2019 Malibu models. Chevy has released two Technical Service Bulletins to address the problem, one suggesting shifter replacement and the other recommending cleaning the contacts and replacing the wiring harness of the shifter. However, these solutions seem to provide only a temporary fix. To see if your car is impacted by these bulletins, visit your local dealer with your vehicle's VIN number and mention TSBs #19-NA-206 and #18-NA-297 for reference.
