If there is no sound coming from the radio in the 2018 Chevy Malibu, there might be a couple of issues causing this. The first possibility is that there is a poor connection between the radio and the speakers, which could be due to a faulty wire or a blown fuse. Alternatively, the speakers themselves could be the source of the problem. If there is no visible damage, you can check the fuse box located near the left side of the steering wheel. To access the fuse box, look for a small seam or crack on the dash to the left of the steering wheel and carefully pry it open with a screwdriver or prybar. Inside, you will find a collection of fuses. On the back of the panel you opened, there should be a diagram indicating the purpose of each fuse. If this diagram is not present, you can refer to the vehicle's owner's manual. Identify the fuse that corresponds to the radio and remove it. Check if the thin strip of metal connecting the two raised sections of the fuse is intact; if it's broken, the fuse needs to be replaced. If the metal strip is unbroken, reinsert the fuse. A replacement fuse typically costs around $10.

I had an issue with my 2016 Malibu where the touchscreen was acting up, and then the whole system would only work sporadically, with the screen turning black except when using the backup camera. I tried replacing the display unit with a used radio, which initially worked well but eventually had the same problem. Frustrated, I took it to Chevy, and they said the new radio couldn't connect because it was from a different vehicle. After they replaced the radio again, there were still connection issues. Finally, after several days of troubleshooting and help from GM, they were confident the problem was resolved. However, when I started the car, there was still no radio. They mentioned it was another computer causing communication blockage. I'm hoping this latest fix will work, and I'll update with more information once I receive the invoice. Fingers crossed!
