Hyundai Sonata Hybrid batteries are built to be durable, with many lasting well over 150,000 miles and sometimes even more. While some batteries may need to be replaced earlier, typically, they can last between 10 to 15 years. In tests conducted by Hyundai on the Sonata Hybrid battery, it performed impressively lasting up to 300,000 miles with minimal degradation. Models from 2012 to 2019 came with a lifetime warranty for the hybrid electric battery. If the lithium polymer battery in your Sonata Hybrid malfunctions, Hyundai will provide a replacement at no cost. Additionally, the company will handle the recycling of the old battery pack for free for the original owner. It's important to note that this warranty cannot be transferred to another owner.

My 2017 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid only lasted 14,000 miles and 5 years before needing a replacement covered by warranty. However, it took from July 31 to Oct. 20 to get the replacement, leaving me relying on others for transportation. Although they offered to reimburse me for a rental car after 2 months, I was hesitant due to online reports of others not being reimbursed. I'm considering selling it as I'm unsure about the situation.
