Asus

The electric power steering, known as EPS, in the 2009 Chevy Malibu helps in steering the vehicle with less effort from the driver and supports safety features like "lane keeping assist". This system relies on data from the steering torque or angle sensor. The cost of replacing this sensor can range from $350 to $450 including parts and labor. However, there is an ongoing recall affecting 2004-2006 and 2008-2009 Malibu models, as well as over a million GM vehicles in total due to faulty EPS components. For 2004-2006 and 2008-2009 Malibu models covered under bulletin 14116, the torque sensor assembly may be replaced. Under bulletin 14117, 2008 vehicles may have both the assembly and EPS motor controller unit replaced. Overall, GM has issued four recall notices related to issues with electric power steering.
