The Eco button in the Chevy Equinox is designed to boost the vehicle's fuel efficiency. It works by locking the torque converter at lower speeds and adjusting the transmission shift timing, which reduces the car's RPMs and helps save on fuel consumption. While some drivers haven't noticed much change during city driving with frequent stops, the Eco mode proves more effective during long highway trips. When you step on the gas pedal, you'll feel it maintaining RPMs to minimize fuel usage during acceleration.
In Eco mode, the equinox's torque converter is engaged at slower speeds to improve fuel efficiency.
