The Ford Focus might produce excessive noise when accelerating due to issues with the emissions system or failing exhaust components. A common culprit for a strange roaring sound while speeding up is a loose heat shield. If an O2 sensor malfunctions, it can lead to an unbalanced fuel-to-air ratio in the engine, resulting in rough idling and acceleration. Backfires and heightened engine noise could be caused by faulty spark plugs. Vibrations during acceleration could indicate loose engine or transmission mounts. More severe issues contributing to the Focus' loud operation may involve slipping gears from a failing timing belt or transmission.

It's probably the front motor mount on the right side beneath the coolant bottle. When the rubber underneath wears out, it causes metal-on-metal contact, resulting in vibrations. I initially thought it was a transmission or turbo issue, but it turned out to be this $60 part causing the vibration. You'll notice it when you see it.

When you hear a loud noise while speeding up, it could be caused by various issues such as problems with the exhaust system or the engine itself. Use a scanner tool to diagnose the problem and take it from there.
