The 2014 and 2015 Ford Explorer recall 16n04 focuses on fixing issues with the separation of the door panel and armrest, as well as the incorrect paneling of the front door trim. This recall is part of the 17n04 Client Satisfaction plan, which extends the warranty for the front door trim panel to 5 years or 100,000 miles from the vehicle's warranty start date. This warranty service is a one-time repair and will be in effect until November 30, 2018, for vehicles that have reached the time or mileage limits. The warranty coverage transfers to subsequent owners immediately. If a vehicle shows the identified condition, dealership mechanics will repair the front door trim panel for free.

Certain Ford Explorer and Police Interceptor models from 2014 to 2016 may have a problem with the front door trim panel cover coming loose near the top of the window. This issue does not present an immediate safety risk to those in the vehicle. However, there is a recall to extend warranty coverage for this problem, and a licensed dealer can repair it for free.
