An oil change is a crucial maintenance task for your vehicle. It is recommended to change synthetic oil every 7,500 to 10,000 miles. For a 2017 Ford Escape, Ford suggests changing the oil and filter every 3,000 to 5,000 miles if using conventional oil. Synthetic oil is more effective as a lubricant than conventional oil and maintains its viscosity longer. The vehicle requires SAE 5w-20 motor oil, around 5 quarts of oil, and a new filter for each oil change. If you choose to do the oil change yourself, expect to pay between $5 and $10 per quart depending on the brand and quality of the oil.

I own a 2017 Ford Escape 1.5L EcoSport 4-cylinder with around 82,000 kilometers (51,000 miles) on it. After doing a lot of research, I found out that it needs 4.1 liters of 5w-20 oil (equivalent to 4.3 quarts) for an oil change. It's recommended to use conventional oil and change it every 4800 to 8000 kilometers (3000 to 5000 miles), or synthetic oil changed every 12,000 to 16,000 kilometers (7500 to 10,000 miles).

I just did an oil change today and I used exactly 4.1 liters, so having a 5-liter jug on hand will give you a bit extra for top-ups between changes. I also swapped out the oil filter for less than $10, even though it was a bit tricky to reach. Some forums suggest changing the oil filter every other oil change, but for me, it's worth doing it each time due to the minimal cost and effort. I hope this info comes in handy for you.
