If you're using a torque wrench to tighten the plug, it's best to use a calibrated analog one that will click when you reach the set torque. Typically, you don't need to tighten the drain plug that much. Ensuring the threads and washer are properly seated is usually sufficient. Hand tight with a standard 3/8" ratchet is usually tight enough. Over-tightening the drain plug could strip it, necessitating the replacement of the entire oil pan to fix the issue.
