The p15a1 code on the Chevy Equinox indicates a faulty fuel economy switch, likely due to a blown fuse. To access the fuse box, locate a small seam or crack to the left of the steering wheel on the dashboard. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open it up. Inside, you'll find a series of fuses. The back of the panel you opened should have a diagram showing the function of each fuse. If the diagram isn't there, you can refer to the owner's manual for the vehicle. Identify the faulty fuse by checking for a broken metal strip connecting the two raised sections. If the strip is broken, the fuse needs to be replaced. If the strip is intact, the fuse is still good and can be reinserted. Replacement fuses are inexpensive, usually costing around 10 dollars.
In a Chevy Equinox, a P15A1 code suggests a problem with the fuel efficiency switch. This may be due to a faulty wiring connector or wire.
