If your 2014 Chevy Malibu's check engine light comes on while you're driving, it's crucial to pull over immediately to prevent potential engine damage from driving with errors. Next, you'll want to use an OBD II scan tool to access the code stored in the ECU. If the code is identified as P16CF, this indicates an issue with the rocker arm actuator system. Typically, when this occurs, the vehicle's ECU will activate limp mode to safeguard engine components. Depending on the specific problem, you may need to replace a sensor or the entire rocker arm assembly.
I replaced the rocker arm actuator 4P 16 CF but the warning light is still showing. What other issues could be causing this?
The rocker arm actuator system allows the engine control module to adjust the camshaft lift and duration while the engine is running. When a low lift is needed, oil pressure is used to release a locking pin in the rocker arm. The rocker arm solenoid valve receives instructions from the engine control module.
