On a Chevrolet Malibu (along with other cars that have OBD-II), when you get diagnostic trouble code P2138, it means there's a problem with the throttle position sensor. The code itself will show up as "Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch D/E Voltage Correlation," signaling that the engine control module (ECM) has detected issues in the D and E circuits of the TPS. If this code pops up, expect issues like stalling, difficulty starting, or sluggish acceleration. While a faulty throttle position sensor is often the main culprit behind this trouble code, just swapping it out might not solve the problem. You might also need to replace the wiring, the throttle body assembly, or even the whole engine control module depending on further diagnosis.
The error code p2138 on a Chevy Malibu indicates a problem with the d and/or e circuits of the throttle position sensor.
