In America, a Ford Focus's clutch can be compared to brake pads. They will inevitably wear out over time, but the lifespan can vary significantly depending on how you operate it. Typically, a clutch can endure anywhere from 20,000 to 100,000 miles based on your driving habits. If you tend to use the clutch heavily, especially in city driving or frequent stop-and-go situations, it will wear out quicker compared to highway driving. The clutch disc gradually deteriorates each time you engage the clutch pedal and make contact with the flywheel. It is advisable to check your clutch annually to ensure there is adequate material left on the clutch plate.

I am extremely frustrated with how unreliable my 2015 Ford Focus has been. Despite having taken care of previous recalls, it has been sitting in the shop waiting for a transmission computer chip replacement. Now, I am being told that I also need a new clutch assembly for $2600, even though this was supposedly addressed in a recall less than 3 years ago. I am given three options: get it fixed, trade it in, or pick it up as it is. I am so disappointed that I will never recommend a Ford vehicle to anyone.
