The primary reason why a Chevy Cruze might experience RPM issues is typically due to issues with the engine's ECU and sensors. Your car relies on various sensors, such as throttle position sensors, airflow sensors, O2 sensors, and crankshaft position sensors, to operate correctly. When any of these sensors malfunction, it prevents the ECU from receiving essential information. These sensors collaborate to inform the ECU when to introduce air, fuel, and ignition for the combustion process in a cylinder. Failure of any of these sensors usually leads to rough engine operation and unstable RPMs during idle or acceleration.

If the rpm gauge on your Chevy Cruze is not functioning, start by inspecting the crank sensor. In this car, the sensor can be found near the starter towards the back of the vehicle. You will need to take out the starter to replace the sensor, as one end of the sensor is positioned near the flywheel. The sensor relies on the flywheel teeth to calculate the timing of the rpm.

The tachometer is indicating a speed of zero even though the car is in motion. It is stuck in the M2 mode and cannot be changed to a different setting, whether higher or lower.

Issues with the Chevy Cruze's RPM may stem from either a malfunctioning sensor or an excessively rapid increase in RPM.
