If there's an issue with the start-stop system in the Honda HR-V, there are three potential causes. The first one is a dead battery, which is evident when the car fails to start. The second cause could be a faulty alternator, leading to a drained battery. Replacing the battery would cost around $110, while replacing the alternator could be as much as $500. Another possible reason could be a blown fuse. Locate the fuse box by examining the left side of the dashboard for a small seam or crack. Use a screwdriver or prybar to open it. Inside, you'll find several fuses. The back of the panel you opened will have a diagram showing the functions of each fuse. If not, you can consult the owner's manual for the vehicle. Identify the problematic fuse by checking if the thin metal strip connecting the two raised sections is intact. If it's broken, replace the fuse, which typically costs about $10.
