If your Land Rover's power steering is giving you trouble, it could be due to a faulty pump. This can result in a decrease in fluid in the steering wheel, which will make turning very difficult. Another possible issue could be a leak in the steering line, causing the same problem. Alternatively, you might simply have low fluid levels and need to change the power steering fluid. To do this, start by locating the container under the hood near the windshield, which is typically a clear plastic container. Use a pump to remove all the old fluid from the container. As the fluid level decreases, turn the steering wheel all the way to each side to allow the fluid in the wheel to drain back into the container; then, remove it as well. Once the container is empty, refill it up to the full line, being careful not to overfill. It may take some time for the steering wheel to loosen up, so drive for approximately 20 minutes to ensure that the procedure was successful.
