The 4th and 5th edition of the Honda CR-V models have a common issue with draining batteries. If one of these vehicles is left sitting for a few days, there's a high likelihood that it will have difficulty starting due to persistent problems with power drainage and an ineffective battery charging setup. Power drainage occurs when a component within the vehicle continues to draw power from the battery even when the car is turned off. Even a small amount of power drain can deplete the battery if left unattended for a couple of days. In specific cases of the 4th generation CR-Vs, the A/C relay may remain engaged even after the engine is turned off, as noted in TSB #A11090M. This can be caused by an electrical short or a malfunctioning resistor which keeps the relay stuck in an open position, leading to battery drainage through the multiplexing system.

I own a 2020 Honda CRV that wouldn't start. After Roadside assistance came, they diagnosed it as a faulty battery and recommended taking it to a Honda dealership for replacement. When I brought it to the dealership, they found that the battery was actually fine. The mechanic suggested that I carry a battery charger due to COVID causing less driving and batteries not being used enough, although this wasn't the case with my situation. Now, the car still won't start and I'm currently awaiting Roadside assistance. I'm left wondering what could be the issue here.

Here's a wild thought for you: If you have a push-button start in your car, do you need to keep your foot on the brake when turning the vehicle off? I work at a roadside assistance company, and we get a lot of calls to jumpstart Hondas. We suspect that some drivers might be unknowingly leaving their cars in auxiliary mode instead of fully shutting them off. Our advice is to shift into park, release your foot from the brake, and then turn off the vehicle. It's also a good idea to keep the key fob away from the car to prevent it from activating unintentionally.

There was a recall on certain Honda CRV batteries due to faulty wiring that caused them to lose charge too rapidly.

I can't provide an answer to the question, and neither can the Honda technician who has all the technical equipment. They mentioned that the drain on the battery has been around 62 hours at a rate of plus 6 amps, leading to it being completely drained. The car has been parked and locked in a garage since it was new, so it seems like there is a faulty component that is drawing power on its own, almost like a hidden culprit that is draining the battery excessively.

The battery in the 2022 Honda CRV died as per the dealership, stating that it typically only holds a charge for 5 to 6 days without driving. When inquiring about using a battery tender without voiding the warranty, they indicated that Honda doesn't offer one. If planning to leave the car at the airport for a week, it could lead to potential issues with the battery during that time.

My Honda CRV's battery died for the second time within a year, with the first replacement under warranty 10 months ago. Despite Honda's guarantee of parts for 12 months or 12,000 miles, they refuse to replace it for free this time. I am considering having AAA replace it with a different brand. it certainly makes me wonder what's going on with these Honda batteries.
