As an American, I would say: The Honda Accord's acceleration problems usually stem from a clogged fuel filter and dirty air filter. It's important to replace the transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles to prevent issues like strange noises and difficulties shifting gears. The sound of old transmission fluid is unpleasant, and a worn-out torque converter can lead to headaches. The transmission is a crucial part of the vehicle, and problems are likely to arise over time. If there's a transmission fluid leak, it should be addressed promptly as delayed shifts can result in acceleration problems, slipping, shuddering, hard shifts, jerking, and stuck gears, all of which should be avoided.

Some versions of the Honda Accord are experiencing a dangerous issue where they are losing brake effectiveness and accelerating on their own, leading to a fatal accident and multiple collisions.

As I was about to park my car in an open parking lot, moving at a speed of around 2 or 3 miles per hour, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated rapidly. Even though I had my foot on the brake, pressing it only made the acceleration worse. The situation only came to a stop when my car collided with two parked vehicles, resulting in damage to all three cars. Thankfully, nobody was injured. The repair cost for my car amounts to $4,500. It was a highly dangerous situation, and there is no doubt that my foot was on the brake when this occurred. I am now very worried about the safety of my 2020 Honda Accord 1.5 EX-L.

My 2000 Honda Accord had a scary incident where it suddenly accelerated while I was braking at an intersection. Despite my efforts, the brakes couldn't stop it, so I had to turn it into the curb and shut off the engine to prevent further movement. The mechanics at the garage couldn't pinpoint the cause of this issue. On a separate occasion, as I was parking in a small office lot and fully applying the brakes, the car unexpectedly accelerated, causing it to lunge forward and collide with a government building only 6 feet away. It was fortunate that the people smoking near the building weren't directly in the path of impact, as they were only about 5 feet away from being hit and potentially injured. Despite thorough investigations, no explanation was ever found for these incidents. Unfortunately, my car insurance provider raised my rates as if the accidents were my fault.
