The dealer offered to 'share the cost' with me, reducing my share to $5,300. Despite my attempts to negotiate, citing the defectiveness of the part, the dealer remained inflexible, even threatening to withdraw their offer if I didn't accept it. In need of a vehicle, I reluctantly agreed to pay. I had to rely on Uber for a couple of days, costing me $63, and then resorted to renting a car for $1,636. I conducted extensive research on the transmission problem, pinpointing the premature failure of internal parts and anticipating the repair duration. It feels unjust that just exceeding the warranty would absolve Honda of responsibility for the defect, portraying a lack of customer concern or an attempt to evade accountability for selling a faulty part. This incident likely stems from an internal failure, possibly the early deterioration of the clutch, something that should not have occurred at this stage. The car has been diligently maintained, with transmission fluid servicing done at 40,270 miles in June 2020. The notion that getting all car services exclusively from Honda would have resulted in a better outcome makes little sense, as the only non-dealer services I had were oil changes and tire replacements – unrelated to a defective transmission.

  I own a 2017 Pilot with 94,000 miles on it, which is now outside of warranty. The dealership found metal shavings in the transmission oil and is quoting me $10,000 for a new transmission. This experience has been frustrating and disappointing. I won't be purchasing a Honda again.

  In 2017, the transmission of our Pilot failed just after reaching 105,000 kilometers, slightly over 100,000. It took some time, but Honda covered the cost of a new transmission. When it came time for the next service and fuel injectors needed replacement, we were informed that the faulty injectors had extended our warranty, saving us from any additional expenses. My husband jokingly threatened to park the car at the dealership with a big lemon sign on top, but fortunately our dealership helped us out in the end.
