The 2014 Chevy Malibu has been noted to suffer from premature alternator wear. When the alternator starts to malfunction, it can lead to inconsistent voltage supply to your electronic devices. This can manifest as equipment performing below or above normal levels, like headlights that appear too dim or excessively bright. Additionally, you might detect flickering lights or lights fluctuating between bright and dim unexpectedly. A weak alternator can cause issues with your car's electronics, resulting in sluggish or malfunctioning accessories. If you observe your windows taking longer to operate, seat warmers functioning irregularly, or unusual behavior from your speedometer and other instruments, it could be a sign of alternator trouble.
If the alternator stops working, the battery warning light on the dashboard will illuminate while you're driving. Shortly after, you'll notice a loss of power in all electrical features, causing the vehicle to come to a halt without the option of a jump start. Additionally, a failing alternator bearing might produce a grinding sound that changes in intensity depending on the engine's speed.
