In my expert opinion, opening the fuel door on certain model years of the Hyundai Santa Fe is needlessly complicated. The process involves going through the trunk, prying open a panel, pulling a release cord, and only then accessing the fuel door. Many drivers opt to leave this panel off for easier access during refueling. As more safety features are added, there are more potential issues that can arise. The release cord is especially fragile and difficult to reach without removing rear panels. Additionally, the fuel door may rust, risking its long-term durability.
Issues with releasing the fuel door on the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe are caused by a wire break and a stuck latch.
