Make sure to check the temperature display on your car's dashboard. In my case, it was reading negative 20 degrees due to a faulty outdoor temperature sensor located in the passenger side door mirror. This sensor communicates with the body control module, signaling that it is too cold to operate. If the temperature isn't being shown, the system won't function properly as it needs to complete a circuit. Instead of paying the steep quoted price of around £3000 from the Fiat dealership to replace the body control module and possibly the ECU, I found a complete mirror with the sensor from a salvage yard for just £30. After fitting it, the accurate temperature was displayed, and the convertible roof worked flawlessly.
