The Ford courier is known to have issues such as a faulty alternator and engine failure. Engine-related problems may include a spark plug coming loose, a loose gasket needing quick attention, oil leaks that should be addressed promptly, and the critical issue of engine overheating that can lead to fires and explosions. Additionally, excessive oil consumption may require more frequent oil changes than usual. It is recommended to replace the coolant every 60,000 miles, the air filter every 15,000 to 30,000 miles, and the spark plugs every 100,000 miles unless they are copper, in which case they should be replaced every 30,000 miles.

While the Ford Courier doesn't have any particular problems, given its age, it's probable that engine or transmission issues may arise. Rust or corrosion on the metal could have developed over time. It's important to inspect the brake and fluid lines for signs of dry rot and leaks. Additionally, expect to replace brake pads and assess the age and condition of the tires. Check the oil and oil pump for signs of wear on the lines and cracks in the pan. Keep an eye out for dead or frayed wires as well as blown fuses that could lead to electrical issues in the vehicle.

I find it ironic that I've heard and read a lot about the issues with the TD courier, but I've had my own since it was brand new and haven't encountered any problems. Following the recommended coolant and having regular servicing done has surely helped. My 2004 TD Intercooled XLT has covered 250,000 kilometers and is now two decades old.
