The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado may experience common power steering problems such as blown fuses, low lubricants, and worn parts like seals and levers. Regular maintenance can help prevent many of these issues. However, if you were driving a 2015 Silverado, you might have encountered a problem where the power-steering assist would briefly fail before returning to normal, typically within a second. This issue led to accidents and prompted GM to recall more than a million vehicles. It seems that the 2018 models do not have the same problem, but it's always important to stay attentive while driving in case your steering wheel becomes unresponsive.

I am currently experiencing a similar issue with my 2018 model. The dealership requires me to replace batteries and cables first before they will address the power steering module as per a bulletin. I am now waiting for the replacement part to become available. I recommend avoiding the 2018 model unless you are comfortable dealing with these issues, such as having to replace motors before reaching 150,000 miles and transmissions before hitting 100,000 miles, even with regular maintenance.
