The 2003 GMC Envoy has issues with acceleration attributed to faulty fuel injectors and spark plugs. It is recommended to replace the transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles to prevent problems such as strange noises, which can be particularly unpleasant due to the poor quality of old fluid. A malfunctioning torque converter can also lead to headaches. The transmission is a critical component of the vehicle, and problems may arise over time, including stuck gears, jerking, hard shifts, shudders, and delayed shifts that impact acceleration. Transmission slipping could occur, necessitating prompt repair of any fluid leaks.

The main issue is that the GM vehicles are not performing optimally. The air/fuel mixture is off, the shift points are not good, and the timing advance is incorrect. By improving these factors, you can significantly enhance fuel efficiency. Personally, I have fine-tuned my 2003 SLE model and I am seeing much better mileage - 13.4L/100km on the highway and 8.5L/100km in the city with cruise control engaged. Although I haven't had it dynoed yet, I believe my horsepower is now over 300, and the throttle response is instant. I need to be cautious with acceleration in wet conditions due to the increased power. Climbing steep hills and accelerating quickly are now effortless. Another issue to address is the torque converter lockup loss, which can be improved by changing the fluid and filter. Overall, my tuned-up car is now a joy to drive, and this is the fifth Envoy/TB model I have owned.

I've never experienced any issues with acceleration, although I find that the engine lacks a bit of power considering the vehicle's weight. The acceleration is satisfactory for my needs.

Certain issues with acceleration in a 2003 GMC Envoy might involve experiencing a decrease in power while driving uphill.
