Between 2008 and 2013, certain Honda Accords experienced a notable oil consumption problem, affecting both the 4-cylinder and V6 models regardless of mileage. The issue stemmed from a design flaw that allowed oil to enter the engine's combustion chamber. Honda released two service bulletins advising owners whose vehicles were burning more than 1 quart of oil per 1,000 miles that they could have their engines rebuilt to replace the piston rings. Some owners improved oil consumption by replacing the PCV valve located at the top rear of the intake manifold.

I have not received any notification from Honda regarding this issue. My 2006 Honda Accord EX coupe, with a 2.4-liter engine, is using approximately 3 quarts of oil every thousand miles.
