The Alfa Romeo Mito with the General Motors M32 gearbox is prone to premature gear bearing wear and excessive road noise. This issue mainly affects Mitos made between 2008 and 2018, especially with the 5th and 6th gears as their bearings deteriorate. The 1.3, 1.4, and 1.6 liter engine models paired with 6-speed transmissions commonly face this problem at higher mileages, leading to shifting difficulties and increased road noise, eventually resulting in gearbox failure if not addressed. In Alfa Romeo vehicles equipped with the C635 transmission, clunking and grinding noises may be observed during shifts between the 1st and 2nd gears. Most of these complications are reported in cars produced before 2012, and repairs can be expensive, often necessitating the replacement of the 1st and 2nd gear synchronizers.
