The 2012 Ford Focus uses eco-friendly coolant specifically made for American vehicles. This is the coolant that will be included by default in your Ford vehicle and what a dealership will use during maintenance. If you had it replaced by a third-party mechanic, it's advisable to confirm with them the type of coolant used. It's risky to mix different coolant types as it can cause corrosion in your cooling system. If you're unsure about the coolant in your car, I suggest topping it up with distilled water temporarily until you can determine the type. While this may reduce cooling efficiency, it won't harm your engine if done this way.
