The 2004 Chevy Silverado utilizes DexCool orange 50/50 coolant, which costs around 30 to 40 dollars per bottle. To perform a coolant change on the vehicle, start by opening the hood and locating the radiator at the front of the engine compartment. Attached to the radiator is a clear or black plastic container, which is the coolant reservoir. This reservoir has a drain plug, fill plug, and a dipstick. You can measure the coolant level and add more if needed. If you plan to flush the system, open the drain plug and let the coolant flow into a bucket. You can use water to assist in the flushing process. Once the water runs mostly clean, close the drain plug, fill the reservoir to the appropriate level marked by the dipstick, and replace the cap.
