If you have a 2003 Chevy Silverado, it uses 5w30 synthetic oil. When it comes to changing the gear oil, there are two key points to remember. If you're simply adding more oil, locate the input port on the axle shaft and fill it up until you reach the full line. This process is quick and straightforward. However, if you need to completely drain the oil, you'll have to remove the oil pan plate on the axle shaft. When removing the plate, be prepared as the oil may spill everywhere. Once drained, seal it back up, refill it as described earlier, and you'll be all set.
