In America, the 2012 Ford Fusion can hold up to 17.5 gallons of fuel and runs most efficiently on regular unleaded gas with an octane rating of 87. However, some vehicles, especially high-end ones with turbocharged engines or more compression in their combustion chambers, require premium fuel with a rating of 97 or higher to function properly. It is not recommended to use premium fuels in engines designed for regular octane levels to avoid damaging the engine. The Fusion comes in different trims such as S, SE, SEL, or Sport, and can achieve up to 23 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway.
