To change the oil in a 2011 Ford Explorer using a fRam extra guard oil filter PH4967, first ensure the vehicle has been turned off and parked for a couple of hours to allow the engine to cool down. Locate the oil pan and drain plug beneath the engine compartment. Place a bucket underneath the plug, remove it, and let the oil drain completely, which may take about an hour. Replace the drain plug once the oil has finished dripping. Next, find the intake port on top of the oil pan and use a funnel to refill it with oil, being careful not to overfill. It's okay to be slightly under the full mark, but overfilling can lead to leaks and oil burn off. Once the oil pan is filled, close the port, clean up any spills, and you're done.
