The 2001 Honda Accord Sedan recommends using SAE 5W-20 oil. If you can't find 5W-20, you can also use 5W-30 temporarily, but remember to switch back to 5W-20 at the next oil change. Make sure the oil you purchase has the API certification on the label. Synthetic oil can be used as long as it matches the viscosity specified. The Accord with a 4-cylinder engine needs 4.5 US quarts of oil, while the 6-cylinder engine requires up to 4.6 quarts. Check the oil level regularly to ensure it's at the correct level.
