BMW has given the green light for using either 5w30 or 5w40 synthetic oil in the 2006 BMW X5 with three engine options: the 3.0L V6 requiring 7.9 quarts, the 4.4L V8 needing 8.5 quarts, and the 4.8L V8 also with an 8.5-quart capacity. It's important to choose the correct oil type and look for the API Approval seal to ensure it is suitable for all BMW vehicles. When changing the oil, make sure to fully drain it before adding a different type, and avoid mixing oils.
