Each 2007 Lexus GS350 is equipped with the 3.5L V6 engine known as code 2GR-FSE. The rear-wheel drive version requires 6.7 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil, while the all-wheel drive version necessitates 6.8 quarts of the same oil. If unable to find SAE 5W-30, it is acceptable (though not recommended) to use SAE 5W-40 temporarily. However, this substitution is discouraged due to potential long-term negative effects on the engine. Using a thicker oil can lead to increased friction within the engine, causing premature wear and ultimately, early engine failure. It is advised to adhere to the manufacturer's specifications rather than opting for cheaper alternatives to avoid doing more harm than good.
