The 2012 Chrysler 200 with the 2.4L engine requires SAE 5W-20 oil. Chrysler suggests using synthetic oil for enhanced protection when it's time for an oil change. There are synthetic and conventional oils available, with synthetic offering better wear protection and longevity compared to conventional petroleum-based options. With synthetic oil, you typically only need to change it every 7,500 miles, in contrast to the 3,500 to 5,000-mile range for conventional oil changes. I advise checking your oil monthly to ensure it's at the proper level and free from any damage or debris that could harm your engine.

The 3.6-liter V6 engine in my car requires 6 quarts of 5w-30 oil for optimal performance. Keeping up with regular oil changes every 7000 miles, or at most 7500 miles, will help ensure that your car continues to run smoothly. Enjoy many wonderful miles with your fantastic vehicle, and have a fantastic time on the road!

I've been using 5w 20 oil and a new filter for the past decade with my 2.4L engine, which has been performing great with 118,600 miles on it. It doesn't burn any oil after driving 3000 miles, only needing a quart top-up. Just to clarify, I've been using conventional oil.
