The 1.5L engine requires 5w-20 full synthetic oil, but using 5 quarts is incorrect as it will show as overfilled on the dipstick due to a misprint. I contacted Ford and they confirmed that an oil change with filter only needs 4.3 quarts for my Escape equipped with this engine.
