The 2009 Ford Ranger requires 5 quarts of A5w-30 synthetic motor oil for an oil change. To begin, ensure that the vehicle has been turned off and parked for a couple of hours to allow the engine to cool down. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug underneath. Place a bucket beneath the plug and remove it to let the oil drain into the pan. Let the oil drip until it stops, which may take about an hour. Once it's done dripping, reattach the drain plug and look for the intake port on top of the oil pan. Fill the oil pan to the full mark using a funnel, being careful not to overfill. It's okay to be slightly under the full mark, but overfilling can cause leaks and oil burn-off. Close the port securely after filling, clean up any spills, and your oil change is complete.
