The 2004 Ford Sport Trac requires 5W-30 synthetic motor oil for an oil change. Before starting the process, ensure that the vehicle has been turned off and parked for a couple of hours to allow the engine to cool down. Locate the oil pan in the engine compartment and find the drain plug underneath. Place a bucket underneath the plug and remove it to allow the old oil to drain. Allow the oil to drain completely, which may take about an hour. Once the draining is complete, reattach the drain plug and locate the oil fill port on top of the oil pan. Use a funnel to add new oil until it reaches the full mark, being careful not to overfill. It's better to have a little less than to overfill, as it can cause leaks and oil burn off. Once the oil is at the correct level, close the fill port, clean up any spills, and you are all set.
