The Chevy Silverado requires full-synthetic power steering fluid, such as Prestone. To replace the power steering fluid, you should first locate the clear plastic container under the hood near the window. Use a pump to remove all the fluid from the container. As the fluid level decreases, turn the steering wheel all the way to one side and then all the way to the other to allow the remaining fluid in the wheel to drain into the container. Once the container is empty, refill it up to the full line, being careful not to overfill. Give it some time for the steering to loosen up by taking a 20-minute drive to test if the refill was successful.
